NEW Commander's Notes
Finally we have confirmation that JWV Department of Nevada will be removed from the JWV National list of departments, effective sometime in July or, at the latest, the end of August. Post 64 and 65 will become posts in the JWV Department of the Southwest (SW).
Several members of Post 64 will fill temporary officer and National Committee memberships for Department of SW immediately. It is expected that a Zoom meeting of the Department of SW will host a nominations meeting for Department Officers and Committee assignments (Department and National) in December 2026, with the election occurring sometime in January 2027. It is currently unknown if posts of other states will be joining the Dept of SW. Post 64 and 65 in Nevada will remain independent, but will supply a few of its members to represent their posts at all future meetings of the Department of SW.
So far, the following members of Post 64 will represent that department:
JWV National is in the process of hiring a management company to replace many of the past full-time employees in an effort to reduce overhead costs. This should also make National more responsive to inquiries. The JWV National Office and Museum building is now being sold; National will be renting space for the office, and Museum items will be going into temporary storage.
We had a guest speaker at the last meeting, Denise, from an agency that offers veterans and their families home services (not hands-on health care) at no cost to the veteran. There's more about that below.

Call Denise if you need a little extra help around the house with tasks like cleaning, laundry, or meal prep. She can also help connect you with the right person if you need additional support. It's a VA benefit, and all you need is approval from your primary care physician.
